Building Your 90-Day Strategic Plan: Turn Goals into Results
Jan 14, 2025
How many times have you set big ambitious goals for your business, only to end up overwhelmed, distracted, or chasing something shiny instead? 🙃
Here’s the thing — you don’t need 50 goals. You need ONE solid plan. In this post, I’m showing you exactly how to create a 90-day strategic plan that’ll turn those big, juicy dreams into actual results. No fluff, no overcomplicated systems — just stuff that works.
Why Strategic Planning Matters
Here’s the thing about 90-day planning: it’s your roadmap. It connects your Big Business Vision to your daily actions.
Without a plan, it’s way too easy to get distracted or caught up in the chaos and shiny objects. But with a clear 90-day plan, you know exactly what needs to happen, when, and why. Think of it as your GPS for the next 3 months — no U-turns, no dead ends, no wasted time.
Step 1: Reflect on the Past Quarter
Before you start planning for the future, take a hot second to look back.
- What went well in the last 90 days?
- What was a total bust?
- What would you do differently next time?
This step isn’t just about patting yourself on the back (though you should absolutely celebrate those wins!). It’s about learning what works for YOU, so you can do more of it.
💡 Pro Tip: My clients and I use my Strategic Planning Worksheet available in my Plug-and-Play Systems Kit to jot this all down — and it makes our planning sessions so much smoother.
Step 2: Brainstorm Your Goals
Now for the fun part: brainstorming! This is where you can let your imagination run wild.
Pull out that list of ideas you’ve been saving up — whether it’s launching a new offer, automating your systems, or finally cleaning up the back-end of your business. Write it ALL down.
💡 Pro Tip: If you don’t have a running list of ideas, start one! I call it the parking lot. I keep mine in Asana, but you can use a Notes app or even an old-school notebook. The point is to keep those ideas out of your head and in one place.
Step 3: Prioritize ONE Main Goal
Here’s where it gets tough: you’re only picking ONE main goal to focus on for the next 90 days.
Why? Because trying to do ALL the things is the fastest way to get none of them done.
Pick the goal that aligns with your Big Business Vision and has the biggest impact. This isn’t about what feels most fun — it’s about what will move the needle for your business.
💡 Example: One of my clients focused on systemizing their client onboarding for 90 days. That one goal set the foundation for scaling their business without burnout.
Step 4: Set Milestones
Think of milestones as the pit stops on your road trip.
If your goal is to systemize your business, your milestones might be:
- Setting up your CRM
- Automating your client onboarding
- Creating your SOPs
These mini-goals keep you motivated and make the whole process less overwhelming.
💡 Pro Tip: Use the Strategic Planning Worksheet in my Plug-and-Play Systems Kit to outline 1-3 milestones. It’s your map for the next 90 days.
Step 5: Determine Your Daily Actions
This is where the magic happens. Your daily actions are the tiny steps that drive big results.
For example, if your goal is scaling, your actions might include:
- Documenting processes for 2 hours a day
- Spending 1 day a week reviewing your systems
The key is consistency. These actions should be small enough to fit into your schedule but impactful enough to make a difference.
💡 Pro Tip: My 90-Day Goal Tracker (yep, it's in the Plug-and-Play Systems Kit!) makes it super easy to track these actions and hold yourself accountable.
Step 6: Measure Your Progress
Finally, let’s talk KPIs — Key Performance Indicators.
These are the numbers that show you if you’re on track or need to course-correct.
For example:
- Weekly sales numbers
- Landing page conversion rates
- New email subscribers
💡 Pro Tip: The Plug-and-Play Systems Kit includes KPI tracking templates so you can stay focused on what matters most."
