How to Create a Weekly CEO Day to Stay Focused and Productive

Imagine if you had one day every week to step away from all your client work, focus on YOUR big-picture vision, and actually feel in control of your business. Sounds dreamy, right?

Well, it’s not just possible, it’s necessary. If you want to scale your business in a sustainable way, you need a dedicated CEO Day. Today, I’m sharing why a CEO Day is a total game-changer, how to structure yours, and what to focus on so you stay productive and inspired.

Why a CEO Day is Essential

So why do you even need a CEO Day? Let’s start with the obvious: if you’re spending 100% of your time on client work, who’s running your business?

A CEO Day is your time to think big, plan ahead, and tackle the strategic work that actually drives growth.

It’s not about checking off a to-do list or cramming in more tasks. It’s about creating space to do things like:

  • Review your business finances
  • Set long-term goals
  • Streamline your processes
  • Or even let your brain wander and dream for an hour

And yes, it’s also about giving yourself the time to recharge so you can show up as the best version of yourself for your clients and team.

Step 1: Set Boundaries for Your CEO Day

The first step? Protect your CEO Day like your business depends on it — because it does.

For me, Fridays are non-negotiable CEO Days. My clients know I’m unavailable, my calendar stays blocked, and I usually even get out of the house to shift my mindset.

Find a day that works for you. Maybe it’s Mondays to set the tone for the week or Fridays to wrap things up. The key is to make it sacred. No client calls, no firefighting, no distractions. This is YOUR time to focus on YOUR business.

Step 2: Structure Your CEO Day

Here’s the thing about CEO Days: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. You get to decide what works best for you.

Here’s how I structure mine:
1️⃣ Money Date: I start every CEO Day with a check-in on my business finances. This isn’t just about paying bills—it’s about understanding the financial health of my business.

  • Review bank account activity
  • Check credit card transactions
  • Update my revenue projections
  • Make any Profit First transfers
  • Categorize expenses in my accounting software

If numbers aren’t your thing, trust me, this process gets easier the more you do it. And if you have a bookkeeper, you can delegate most of it — but YOU still need to review the reports and know what’s going on in your business.

2️⃣ Big-Picture Work: After my Money Date, I spend time on strategic tasks, like planning content, refining systems, or brainstorming new ideas.

3️⃣ Recharge: Sometimes, your CEO Day might involve stepping away entirely. A massage, a walk, or just sitting at a coffee shop dreaming about your next move can do wonders for your creativity and focus.

Step 3: Stay Consistent and Flexible

The hardest part of having a CEO Day? Actually sticking to it.

Life gets busy, clients demand your attention, and it’s easy to push your CEO Day to the side. But here’s the deal: scaling your business means stepping out of the weeds and into your role as the CEO.

💡 Pro Tip: If you have to miss a CEO Day, reschedule it. Treat it like a doctor’s appointment you can’t skip. And if you’re someone who struggles with accountability, use tools like my Money Date process and 90-Day Goal Tracker to stay on track. They're available in my Plug-and-Play Systems Kit.

Common Challenges

I get it — stepping away from the day-to-day can feel impossible.

Maybe you’re worried about letting things fall through the cracks, or maybe you feel guilty taking time for yourself. But you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Your CEO Day isn’t selfish. It’s an investment in your business. When you carve out time to focus on strategy, you’re building a foundation for sustainable growth. And trust me, your clients will thank you when you show up as a more focused, less stressed version of yourself."
